Geomorphologist and Regional Geologist
During my working career, I was:-
- a talented Regional Geologist experienced in the generation and evaluation of New Opportunities?
- an Exploration Geologist skilled in data-room and prospect evaluation?
- an experienced External Reviewer for peer reviews?
- an Exploration Consultant experienced in corporate portfolio reviews in support of a M&A exercise?
I specialised in these areas for most of my 30-year career with a major oil company, and my 11 years as an independent geological consultant. I established PJ Exploration Ltd in early 2004 and through 2016, I was continuously employed, undertaking numerous projects (at all scales, from individual block evaluations, to sub-continental regional reviews), covering West and East Africa, the Northern North Sea, New Zealand, the Middle East and Central and South America.
I published or presented numerous papers on subjects as diverse as Kenya, Kuwait, Senegal, New Zealand, the Middle East, and Fold and Thrust Belts (see Publications page).
Since finally retiring in 2016, I have returned to the subject which first drew me to geology nearly 60 years ago, namely Geomorphology - the study of landforms. I have always been fascinated by the landscape and why it looks as it does, and so (with a beautiful landscape as my backdrop) I have started writing a series of articles on the landforms of the Cotswolds (see Publications page).
